5 Bits of Nutrition Advice You Should Stop Following Everyone has become a nutrition expert lately and if you think like this, you are not the only one. Earlier people said that fat was not healthy, then they started thinking that it is good again. Egg yolks were presumed bad for the heart, but now they say that we can consume them again. Few people have a strict Paleo diet, while some forgo animal products and start eating fully plant-based food. This gets really confusing at times and you fail to understand what to follow and what not.
Actually, nutrition is distinct as there’s no single diet, which works for each one of us. But there are still many archaic nutrition instructions that people still believe are true, which is not the case any more. There is so much nonsense being transmitted online and by friends/family, it becomes very easy to get baffled.
Nutrition and weight loss claims are particularly everywhere. But the good thing is if you know what to actually look for, then only you can ignore the wide bundle of advice, instead of digging deep into the trivia of everything that you might come across.
We spoke to many dietitians, who want people to cease following the bad nutrition advice that they get once and for all. If you want to lose your weight or just want to clean up your diet, ensure you don’t pursue these myths-
1)The fruits have sugar, so avert eating them-
Like people take off sugar from their daily diets, they also remove fruit, which is very shocking as fruits are a source of natural sugar. But discarding sugar from your diet means that you’re cutting out important fibre and other body nutrients required for you.
If we compare the food groups, fruits are said to be the ones which have most of the antioxidant levels, more than any other food group. You can reduce your blood sugar intake by infusing fruit with food, which has protein or fat.
2)You would lose this much weight in a couple of days-
Nobody has the crystal ball, which can predict the future. Neither does the person giving you diet advice does. That’s the reason why, when someone says that you’ll lose a particular amount of weight in a specific time span, you should think of that promise as a grain of salt.
We all have different types of body, life circumstances, preferences and activity levels. These variables make it impossible to tell how much weight anyone can lose. You should always ignore these promises of this much “pounds you’ll lose”, and target on healthy and a great eating plan. The most important thing is to pay heed to how it would make you feel.
3) Snacks which are gluten-free are healthy-
Diets which are gluten-free have been very popular in the last few years, along with the regular bread, cakes, cookies, and snacks which are being switched with the gluten-free analogue. The problem with them is that it is not essential that these are also healthy.
For people who have celiac disease, gluten-free foods are important if they want a change for themselves and that too once in a while. But for other people, they are unnecessary. Things like gluten-free cakes and cookies are in the end cakes and cookies only. Also, they are mostly high in sugar, fat, carbohydrates other ingredients to enhance their taste.
4)Avoid eating grains, sugar or some particular food items-
Removing healthy food out of your diet just because someone scared you about not consuming them is unfortunate and unnecessary. The more whole-foods diet you consume, the healthier it is, and it becomes easier to maintain.
Eating everything but in smaller quantity is the mantra for good health and wellness. Consequently, if you’re pursuing an eating plan and you feel that it is costing you emotionally, then you should realise that it’s time to take a step back.
5) Juice helps reduce weight-
Consumption of plenty of juice bars provides multi-day juice cleansing, that vows to detox your body and it benefits you in your weight-loss goals. But the problem with it is that you end up taking much more sugar than other nutrients.
Drinking juice is good for health, but in squeezing out all the juice from a fruit, you miss out on some of the best parts which are fibre. Fibre should be an essential part of your diet and is said to be a great tool for losing weight loss.
So, eat good, healthy and everything in small gaps and in meagre quantity. Do not listen to what everyone says, just include fresh and organic things to your diet with less oil. It will keep you healthy and maintained.
